Part 2: Pregnant Woman Trapped in Sealed Spa Pool as Ruthless Mother-in-Law Attempts to Destroy Hidden Evidence in Deadly Villa Betrayal

The golden hour light bleeding over the Blue Ridge Mountains was supposed to signal a fresh start, but to Meilin, the thick, quiet air of the luxury estate felt like a velvet trap. Down in the timber deck’s infinity spa, crystal-clear water shimmered with deceptive warmth, yet her hands trembled violently against the cold grip of her metallic silver crutches. The heavy crimson-red fiberglass cast enveloping her left leg weighed nearly seven pounds—a stark, humiliating reminder of the «accident» on the villa stairs just three weeks prior.

She smoothed the mustard-yellow fabric of her maternity dress over her six-month bulge, trying to calm the kicking beneath her ribs. Her husband, Julian, was inside filling her prescription, unaware of the quiet venom poisoning the air outside.

Standing three feet away was Eleanor Vance.

In her crisp ivory-white silk jumpsuit and metallic bronze belt, Julian’s mother looked less like a grieving matriarch and more like an executioner. Her short salt-and-pepper hair caught the dying orange light, her emerald drop earrings casting long, razor-sharp shadows across the timber deck.

«He believes you, you know,» Eleanor said softly, her voice smooth as polished glass. «Julian actually thinks you slipped. He’s so delightfully fragile when he’s in love.»

Meilin tightened her white-knuckled grip on the aluminum crutches. «The medical examiner in Seattle was your friend, Eleanor. I know you paid him off to seal my father’s autopsy report. The offshore accounts… the fraudulent transfers from the estate… it was all you, wasn’t it?»

Eleanor didn’t flinch. Instead, a slow, terrifying smile spread across her aristocratic features. «Your father was a fool who thought he could bargain with me. And you, Meilin, are your father’s daughter—curious, righteous, and thoroughly out of your depth.»

«When Julian sees the paper trail I uploaded to the cloud server—»

«There is no server,» Eleanor interrupted smoothly, taking a single, slow step forward. «I had the villa’s satellite uplink severed ten minutes ago. You aren’t leaving this mountain, Meilin. Neither is the heir you think will save your father’s legacy.»

Before Meilin could scream, Eleanor lunged.

A sharp, violent shove hit Meilin’s chest. The aluminum crutches clattered uselessly against the wood as Meilin fell backward into space.

«Say goodbye to everything,» Eleanor whispered.

The plunge was instantaneous and agonizing. Cold, bubbling water engulfed Meilin, roaring in her ears as her heavy crimson cast pulled her down like an anchor. Her muffled gasp turned into a frantic cloud of rising bubbles.

On the deck above, Eleanor stepped calmly to the wall-mounted digital control panel, flipped open the glass lockbox, and slammed her thumb onto the master switch. «Problem solved forever,» she murmured.

A harsh digital beep chimed, and with a roaring mechanical whir, the heavy, dark-slated motorized spa cover slid rapidly across the water.

Underneath, darkness descended. Meilin kicked wildly with her right leg, her heavy left cast dragging her down toward the floor of the spa. She surfaced just in time to see the last sliver of golden twilight vanish as the steel latches clicked shut overhead, sealing her in a liquid coffin.

«Stop! What have you done?!»

Julian’s scream echoed from the villa patio. Sprinting across the deck in his slate-grey linen shirt, he skidded to a halt beside the sealed pool, his face drained of color.

«Open it! Open it now!» Julian dropped to his knees, his fists slamming against the hard slate cover with hollow, thumping thuds.

Eleanor didn’t answer. She pulled the wireless spa key-fob from her pocket, threw it onto the deck, and stomped the razor-sharp heel of her designer shoe directly through the center. Plastic crunched, microchips snapped, and with a swift flick of her toe, she kicked the shattered remnants down the timber floor drain.

«You psychotic witch… how dare you?!» Julian’s voice cracked with unbridled rage.

He lunged forward, grabbing Eleanor by the lapels of her ivory jumpsuit and violently slamming her back against the glass perimeter railing. Fabric tore; glass rattled.

«UNLOCK IT RIGHT NOW!» he screamed inches from her face, tears of horror streaming down his cheeks.

Eleanor stared back into her son’s eyes, her expression utterly detached, her lips twisting into an icy grin. «Your family dies today.»

Realizing he was wasting vital seconds, Julian shoved her aside and hurled himself back onto the middle of the cover. Hands already bleeding, he pounded his elbows and knuckles against the reinforced composite board. «Hang on! I’m breaking you out! Can anybody hear me?!»

Beneath the solid cover, the world was shrinking to a suffocating, soundless void.

Meilin drifted face-down in the pitch-black water. Her lungs burned like liquid fire; her vision blurred at the edges as her heart thudded in a slow, dying rhythm. The red cast pulled at her waist, dragging her down, but through the agony, a sudden realization pierced the hypoxia in her brain.

The paper trail wasn’t on the cloud server.

She had hidden the encrypted drive—containing the full evidence of Eleanor’s murders—inside the hollow lining of her own fiberglass leg cast. Eleanor hadn’t just tried to drown her to hide a secret; Eleanor knew the drive was on her person.

And then, through the dark water, Meilin saw something that made her heart freeze.

Floating in the corner of the spa, illuminated only by the faint sub-aquatic LED lights, was a tiny, glowing metallic cylinder attached to the water inlet pipe. A chemical dispenser. A thick, milky dye was slowly leaking from it, clouding the water around her.

It wasn’t just water in the pool. It was an industrial neutralizing solvent—formulated specifically to dissolve fiberglass.

Eleanor hadn’t sealed the pool to drown her. She was trying to destroy the evidence wrapped around Meilin’s leg before Julian could break through.

With the last reserve of strength in her fading body, Meilin pressed both pale palms against the submerged underside of the dark cover, pushing upwards against the immovable weight.

Through the thick barrier, a faint, metallic click echoed from inside the villa.

It wasn’t the sound of Julian pounding. It was the distinct sound of a second digital lock disengaging—from a hidden control unit inside Eleanor’s personal briefcase.

Julian stopped hammering for a split second, his ears ringing in the absolute silence of the mountain dusk. The pool cover didn’t retract. Instead, from deep beneath the timber deck, a heavy hydraulic motor began to groan—not opening the pool, but slowly tilting the entire spa structure toward the edge of the cliff.
